Sea Salt

Sea Salt is an action strategy hybrid, where you play as Dagon, the eldritch force of the sea, summoning unfathomable horrors from the sea to claim vengeance on the religious figures who have dared to defy you. You are nature in its most monstrous form. The story goes that for years Dagon was willing to offer humanity fair winds for their fishing vessels in exchange for their prayers, and a sacrifice when it was called on. The humans were happy to enjoy the riches and prosperity provided by Dagon. They knew the price, but cowardice overtook their faith when the time came to collect their debts. The Bishop of Dagon defied its will so the horrors of the deep salt veins of the sea now emerge to claim what is theirs. This is the story of a cowardly man facing something undeniable and lethal.

We were inspired by Eastern European folklore, HP Lovecraft, several movies most notably Hard To Be A God, and our own experiences of the sacrifice of creative work and the climate crisis.

Sea Salt’s game design is the anaglomation of Diablo, Starcraft and Hotline Miami. It’s the answer to the question: what if you played the hordes of monsters “heroes” fight against? You command an unruly swarm of nightmarish creatures, cultists and horrors in a single player level to level experience with bosses at the end of each area to reach the Bishop of your own religion, and kill him. Each level is its own puzzle of how to eliminate all the enemies with the least losses in your army. And by unlocking 20+ monstrous followers on your path you are able to experiment and find combos that work to your play style and help you take out your foes.
